Project Summary

Zanzibar Rising is a community-driven empowerment initiative focused on building resilient, self-sustaining communities in rural and underserved parts of Zanzibar. This project will focus on three main pillars: Education, Economic Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability. Through grassroots collaboration, skills training, youth and women empowerment programs, and sustainable infrastructure development, Zanzibar Rising aims to uplift lives — one step at a time.

Objectives

  • 1. Empower Local Youth and Women through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and mentorship programs.
  • 2. Improve Education Access by renovating schools, providing learning materials, and digital literacy programs.
  • 3. Promote Environmental Sustainability through tree planting, waste management training, and eco-friendly infrastructure.
  • 4. Enhance Community Health and Wellbeing via clean water initiatives, health workshops, and mental health awareness campaigns.

Target Beneficiaries

  • 2,000+ community members across 10 villages in Zanzibar.
  • 500+ youth and women enrolled in vocational and entrepreneurship programs.
  • 1,200 students benefiting from upgraded schools and educational support.
  • 3,000+ trees planted and 5 environmental cooperatives formed.

Key Activities

1. Vocational Training & Entrepreneurship Hub

  • Tailored training in tailoring, carpentry, solar panel installation, and small business management.
  • Micro-grants and business mentorship for women and youth entrepreneurs.

2. Education Enhancement

  • Renovation of 5 rural schools.
  • Distribution of 1,000 school kits and 50 tablets for digital learning.
  • Training for 100 teachers in inclusive and digital education techniques.

3. Green Zanzibar Program

  • Planting of 3,000 indigenous trees.
  • Installation of 10 community compost systems.
  • Youth-led awareness campaigns on recycling and climate resilience.

4. Community Health & Hygiene Initiative

  • 5 clean water boreholes with purification systems.
  • Distribution of reusable sanitary kits for 600 girls.
  • Monthly health workshops in collaboration with local clinics.
